Take the sink down, drill holes for the brass inserts. Clean the inner rim of the hole with an alcohol-base solution, applying a silicone sealant carefully around the edges, before re-attaching the sink into it.
When you get home, the first thing you need to do is shut the water supply. Else, you'll have a whole lot of water flowing out when you remove the old faucet to fix the new one. The next step is to check for the panel at the rear, which will help you access the main faucet. Ideally, there should be a rear access panel in the wall, so as to avoid any major plumbing disasters. So, find it, and remove it.
Certain devices are available with shut-off valves and some are available with an extra attachment for water filters. You may even find those which do not get clogged due to sedimentation known as anti-clog aerators.
Some of the models that receive good customer ratings, are Glacier Bay's traditional (standard, solid, easy to install), double handle (sleek design with curved handles), double handle bar (long-lasting conventional type with a smooth polish), and high arc two handle (decorative model made from brass). These are just a few of the models; visit your local hardware store to check out classic fixtures of your choice.
