Long-term use may result in surface penetration and stains. They are also not that durable, when compared to stainless steel or enamel sinks.
Now, let's move on to know some of the drawbacks of a soapstone sink. This stone, as compared to the other stones like granite, has a tendency to scratch easily. So, if you wash some heavy utensils in the sink, there is a possibility that its surface will get chipped over time. On the brighter side, all such nicks on the soapstone surface can be taken care of by sanding it with a sandpaper and then applying mineral oil on it. However, if the impact on the soapstone sink is huge, big cracks can develop on its surface and thus, you will have no other option, but to replace the sink all together.
Simply put, these sinks sit on top of the counter forming a rim that rests between the counter surface and the sink. They are also called drop-in sinks for the sole reason that they fall right into the allotted space on the kitchen platform. They are held in place using clips and screws and are relatively inexpensive to install.
Before you begin repairing the shower diverter, you need to know how to dismantle it properly. Never pull it out straight, or use hammers or hooks to remove it. All you need to do is use the appropriate gear, which is available in any hardware store and gently dismantle the piece. Once it is off, use a wrench to bend the metal tube behind the knob, and cut the caulk surrounding the metal plate. Doing so will provide you with a clear view of the diverter, following which, you may proceed with the repairs.
