It is important that you take good care of your faucets. You will need to clean them with extreme care so that their coating doesn't come off. Hence, avoid using harsh cleaners. Use white vinegar mixed with an equal quantity of water instead. However, care should be taken to clean off all the vinegar from the surface of the faucet. Apart from this mixture, you can use some mild cleansing products also. Be sure to use a soft cloth when you clean. If you use something rough, like a scrubber, it will erode the coating.
Then, take a scrub brush, pour some dish wash liquid or detergent on it and give the sink a thorough scrubbing on all sides. This will remove the layers of accumulated dirt and food on it.
▣ Stainless steel sinks are also available in different finishes. The best bet is to go for satin-finish sink, which is fairly durable. Extremely glossy and polished sinks are more prone to scratches and other damage.
In case you have cast iron or galvanized iron pipes supplying water, mineral deposit is a common problem that can lead to blockage. The minerals present in the water react with metal of the pipes, leading to rough surfaces and deposits which go on increasing as time passes, causing blockage of pipeline. You need to get a certified plumber in this case to find out the problem and fix it.
