The sink is attached to the countertop with the help of clips on the downside. To remove it, you need to remove these clips with the help of a socket wrench or a screwdriver. Remove the pipe attached underneath and after making sure that all connections are removed, lift it up from the countertop. Once the old sink is removed, thoroughly clean the countertop surface underneath. The old caulk will need to be removed, with the help of a putty knife.
▣ Undermount or drop-in models? Choose the ones that blend with your kitchen design. Undermount models create a seamless look, as they are installed below the countertop. Drop-in sinks have flanges around its perimeter which helps it fit into the countertop.
Next, place a thin pipe thread and wind it around the perimeter of the stem thread. Apply pressure, and with the help of your finger push these into the faucet. Tighten the nut and bolt of the faucet with the help of a wrench. After the faucet handle has been replaced and the cap refitted, the water supply can be restored. You are finally done with the repair.
Finish off by fixing everything back in reverse order. Fix the last thing you dismantled for reassembling the whole faucet ensemble. Again cleaning up the faucet at this point will be a good idea to keep it free of dirt, mildew, and grime. Once you reassemble the unit, test it by turning on the cold and hot water to make sure that there are no leaks.
