Before we discuss the cleaning tips of a porcelain sink, let me remind you that this plumbing fixture is prepared by fusing a glass surface with a metal and clay base. The high temperature treatment and raw materials make porcelain enamel a hard unit. But, it is still susceptible to scratches, dents, fractures and stains. Also, remember that it is not acid proof, and exposure to acidic cleaners will wear away the glass surface. This again increases the chances of developing unwanted stains and damages. The following are the steps to clean a porcelain sink.
Get a pair of pliers and locate a nut or pin securing the cartridge in place. Using the pliers remove this by turning the nut or popping off the pin and keep the smaller parts aside. Pull the cartridge out of the wall very carefully to prevent any damage.
Some of the models that receive good customer ratings, are Glacier Bay's traditional (standard, solid, easy to install), double handle (sleek design with curved handles), double handle bar (long-lasting conventional type with a smooth polish), and high arc two handle (decorative model made from brass). These are just a few of the models; visit your local hardware store to check out classic fixtures of your choice.
